Diva Cup - Giveaway Contest!

Guess you know by now that I am a big 'GREEN' fan... from Eco-friendly toys that are BPA free to using of 'Green' products like cloth diapers... and venturing on to 'GREENER' things like Reusuable Feminine Menstrual Pads... things which people, especially ladies in Singapore and Asia, seldom hear off...

Guess which product is "GREENEST" at the momnet on Mummy Knows Best's plate??? It's... (drum-roll)....
The revolutionary DIVA CUP...

'The menstrual cup was first developed in the 1930’s. Then it was made from rubber latex (an allergen for many). Millions were sold in those first years by multiple companies.'
Why switch to Diva Cup?
'Landfills are over-taxed with feminine hygiene products. In 2000, over 55.9 million women (in the U.S. alone) were monthly users of disposable feminine hygiene products that are “dumped” into the environment each year. Great resources of energy are used in the manufacture of these products. In addition, the additives and surfactants they contain pollute rivers, streams, and oceans.'

Start of Diva Cup
'Thus, over 15 years ago, Francine recognized the need for an alternative to unreliable disposable tampons and pads and found a company offering menstrual cups. She and her daughter, Carinne, singlehandedly resurrected the 75 year old menstrual cup concept by reintroducing this product to the world market when it was virtually unknown. They sold this rubber/latex version for 10 years.

In 2003, drawing on their experience and expert knowledge about the menstrual cup category, they developed a modern redesign, made from soft, top-quality silicone, to meet the needs of today’s woman. They launched their own company, Diva International. Their revolutionary concept, The DivaCup, is patent-pending and ISO certified. Today, The DivaCup is the preferred choice.

The DivaCup Team has over 38 years of combined experience in natural feminine hygiene alternatives. Their passion is to provide women an environmentally responsible, convenient and reliable alternative to tampons and pads.

“Not every woman can afford a hybrid car nor easily convert their home to solar power. Yet, by choosing to use a menstrual cup instead of disposable tampons and pads, any woman is able to make an environmentally responsible choice each month. This is no small matter. In the U.S. alone, billions of tampons and pads are dumped into landfills and the environment each year.” Carinne Chambers

“With all the state-of-the-art conveniences Western society has developed, it baffles us why outdated feminine products are still being used. We believe that reusable menstrual cups are the next generation of feminine hygiene because they are the most environmentally responsible choice. They are also the most convenient and reliable option available and are not linked to Toxic Shock Syndrome.” Francine Chambers.'

  1. To explain why I need a DivaCup, and why I'm sick of pads and tampons, I present to you this mental image of a typical morning for me during "my time of the month".

    *Sits up*
    *SPLASH*

    Thank you for your consideration!

  2. I have been on menopause strength pain pills for my back aches and cramps since I was 15. I have switched birth control pills 5 times in a search for something that will make my life more comfortable and my periods lighter. My 'time of the month' usually lasts for 7 days, all very heavy. It bothers me to know how many pads I go through. I find tampons uncomfortable, not to mention I still have to wear a pad, because I will inevitably leak! I think that the DivaCup could be my little savior from Aunt Flo!

I know that whoever you award this little piece of heaven to, will surely deserve it. I hope you the best of luck in your decisions! :)

  3. I'm allergic to just about everything and have a very, uh, sensitive body. So I'm trying to phase out as many chemicals as possible because I actually FEEL the difference, it's not just a fancy idea that I'm probably doing something better for my body. I am also trying to reduce waste... we're using cloth diapers on our little man, and it keeps making me wonder, "now, why am I okay with cloth to catch my son's poo but I'm filling landfills with pads and tampons?" The answer - because I don't know anything else. I'm terribly intimidated by the Diva Cup because I don't understand how it works. None of the blogs where women rave about it explain it! What's up with that?
But I really want to give it a try and stop being such a wuss. It's just hard to spend money on something I don't understand. So if I WIN one then it wouldn't feel like such a risk, ya know? Then maybe I can blog about it and tell all the ladies why it's not so scary! ::wink wink::

  5. A plea from my vag...

Please enter me for a free DivaCup. I've had four whopping 9lb plus babies shoved through me over the course of 14 years, and not once has anyone offered me any thanks or appreciation. And to top it all off, for 5 days of every month I get swabbed with pesticides, bleaches and chemicals from the ghastly tampons she insists on shoving up me! Help me please! An organic loving vagina in distress.

Thankyou. (Have also joined the twitter page for an extra entry ;)

  6. I personally have not tried tampons. However, I feel that Diva Cup sure sounds like an innovative product to save us poor ladies out there in distress during the darker days of the month. Plus, I know I can trust Mummyknowsbestshop to present only the best and environmental-friendly products to its customers based on past experiences.

So please, give me that Holy Diva Cup! I want to be Diva-licious!

  7. "stand back - diva coming through..."

yesterday I was asked..."what does a diva, like yourself, need to get you through each month?"

To which I replied; "A diva cup, of course! How else will I collect spare change as I sing in the street?"

Obviously they'd never heard of the Divacup - because they gave me $1 for my time...
